According to forum's rules. You can reply or post in English or pinyin and it's gotto be 10 words or more.
But I still see mod deducting points/giving warning for using english/pinyin.
It's better to communicate with the moderator first, just send a pm to him/her before you do anything.

My answer is " yes, you can!" ,for I have used English to reply many times and it's quite OK; the point is the content of your reply!

I reply with english occasionally, seems alright, but not everyone can understand what you type likely.

i can't read chinese and don't understand most of the things in the forum without an online translator.. so, sometimes, i feel really reluctant to make a post here.. but its good to hear about this issue.. :victory

you can use English in any other forum, but maybe few people know your idea when your sentence is complicated and difficult.

From my point of view, one general way to judge an English post/reply is to translate it into Chinese first and see if there is any offence against the rules and regulations.

I would like to express my disappointment when reading so many posters saying no marks will be deducted when they reply in English.
No, it is absolutely wrong. Within two days, my gold coins have been dramatically reduced and my accumulated marks have been reduced from l to 0 when I posted my replies in the other forums in English, such as the Literature Area and the Adult Novel Area. The reasons indicated by those Forum Administrator really made me feel very upset. They said since these forums are intended for Chinese readers, I have to reply in Chinese. Yes, sadly speaking, just for this reason, many of my gold coins were exploited.
One more comment from him was that since I can read Chinese, I have to reply in Chinese. It is not very convincing indeed. By reading the comments of the posters of this Forum and the rules and regulations of SIS, there are no restrictions to guard against using English in replying in all the Forums (I may be wrong at this point if I have overlooked or missed out some important points of the overall Rules and Regulations of SIS)
Finally, I am a computor beginner and I have no knowledge of using computor to input the Chinese characters. This means I can survive only in this Forum - English and Multi Languages Section in which I can express my likes and dislikes. Is this the ultimate purpose of SIS?
Ironically, more or less each Forum in SIS carries an English Heading but denies the viewers to reply in English. Will this cause confusion to all the supporters of SIS.
After all, I must reinstate that SIS is the best of all similar websites all over the world. SIS is the King of Kings. Long live SIS.

So are we allowed to post english in other forums? It would be nice if a moderator or admin clarify this for all of us. Some people say its ok, some people say its not. I'd rather not risk it until we have some clear confirmation.

I fully agree to Flat 11's idea. I will not risk myself anymore until I have got an official calification of all the confusions mentioned from SIS.
Will appreciate if all the Administrators will give us a clear-cut answer as soon as possible.

It is really hard for a non-Chinese speaker to visit this forum.
You may post a reply/topic by English. of course yes. But you have to understand the rule of where you post your words.
If you can not understand Chinese, how can you use SIS and get useful info.?? :cake

english and chinese are two main language in the world,we should support both language as the strong required from non-chinese people around world,i'd say most chinese folks are good educated now, english is coming to every place in china.

In my opinion, it is no problem because I am doing it rightnow.Several days ago, I was deducted out of my forum money because I used some marks and made any errors in Chinese character. I was upset about it so I changed my reply method to English, the major difference is that I answered the questions seriously even in some Chinese forum. The consequence is no deduction again but gain some rewards due to my good performace.

who's that big man making decisions? You need to show out to clarify. I read the rules and the rules say nothing. my logic will be yes, we can.

I have such similar query in mind as well... I don't chinese characters in an extremely slow pace, and it would be nice to express my thanks or whatever in english after reading the threads.
I am hesitant to type english in other parts of this forum because i am afraid my gold coins would be deducted afterwards...
